The consultation process

How a consultation unfolds

A clear path from confidential enquiry to written next steps for a performance improvement plan in Germany.

1. Send a short enquiry

Describe the type of document, the next deadline and whether you prefer video or an in-person meeting in Hamburg. Do not attach medical records or an entire personnel file at this stage.

2. Confirm fit and fee

We reply within one working day. If the matter needs immediate legal representation—for example, a dismissal deadline—we will say so instead of booking an unsuitable consultation. The service, timing and total fee are confirmed in writing.

3. Select the relevant record

For the core consultation, send up to 20 pages at least one working day beforehand: the plan, role description, recent review and the correspondence closest to the issue. A short chronology is more useful than an unfiltered archive.

4. Work through the plan

During the confidential session we examine stated standards, examples, measures, review dates and who controls each dependency. We prepare questions and identify evidence that can reasonably be gathered.

5. Receive the action summary

Within one working day you receive a concise written sequence of actions. It records practical preparation, not a legal opinion.

6. Escalate where the issue requires it

Works councils, union representatives and German-qualified employment lawyers have distinct roles. We identify when your question should move to one of them, particularly where statutory deadlines, discrimination, disability, protected leave or dismissal may be involved.

Arrange a confidential call when you know your next deadline.
